Courses for New Faculty - College Faculty Credentialing

Welcome New Faculty!

This Web site provides you with information about the pedagogy courses offered for new full-time, unlimited-appointment college faculty who need to complete the teaching and learning competency requirement. 

First, the CTL0900 Philosophy of Community and Technical College Education course is required of all new unlimited college faculty. This course is offered online within Desire2Learn as a self-directed, non-credit course from the Center for Teaching and Learning.

In addition, there are three courses that must be taken for academic credit (undergraduate or graduate). The Office of the Chancellor's Credentialing unit will inform you of whether you need to take one or more of these courses:

  • Course construction
  • Teaching / instructional methods
  • Student outcomes assessment/evaluation

The courses are available from Southwest Minnesota State University, Bemidji State University, and the University of Minnesota.
